iTind™ at a Glance
A temporary Nitinol structural therapy designed for rapid symptom improvement with complete anatomical integrity.
01
TEMPORARY
The device is designed to be removed after the treatment period (5–7 days) without surgical hospital stays.
02
MINIMALLY INVASIVE
Delivered through the urinary passage using a specialised system without any external skin incisions.
03
NO PERMANENT IMPLANT
The device is not intended to remain permanently in the body — no metal or tabs left behind in the prostate.
04
PATIENT SELECTION
Suitability depends on prostate anatomy, symptoms, and a comprehensive clinical assessment by Dr. Chipde.
High-precision anatomical comparison showing normal prostate vs enlarged prostate (BPH) adenoma constricting the urinary flow.
Why Can an Enlarged Prostate Affect Urination?
As the prostate enlarges with age (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia), it can narrow the prostatic urethra and bladder neck, making it progressively harder for urine to flow normally. Symptoms often creep up over months or years.
Weak urine stream
Difficulty starting
Frequent urination
Sudden Urgency
Night-time waking
Incomplete emptying
How Does iTind™ Work?
The device utilizes shape memory Nitinol technology to create three deep continuous channels through gentle ischemic remodeling over 5–7 days.
01
Folded Placement
The temporary device is folded within a slender delivery sheath and gently positioned in the prostatic urethra under direct vision using local or light anesthesia.
02
Temporary Reshaping
A 19-gauge micro-needle delivers permanent miniature suture implants through the prostate lobes, anchored with a nitinol tab on the prostate capsule.
03
Complete Retrieval
After the treatment period, the device is completely retrieved in the clinic. The remodeled grooves remain open, restoring clear urinary passage.
What Should You Expect?

Frequently Asked Questions
Clear, straightforward answers about iTind™ therapy and procedure specifics.
What is iTind™?
iTind™ is a second-generation temporarily implanted nitinol device engineered to relieve lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) caused by Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) without permanent foreign hardware or surgical ablation.
How does it reshape the urethra?
Upon deployment, its three memory-shaped struts gently expand against the obstructive tissue, creating three longitudinal incisions/grooves via gentle pressure necrosis at the 12, 5, and 7 o'clock positions, widening the urinary lumen permanently.
Is it a permanent implant?
No. iTind™ is purely temporary. It is designed to stay in place inside the prostatic urethra for only 5 to 7 days, after which it is completely removed.
How is the device removed?
Retrieval is performed on an outpatient basis in Dr. Chipde's clinic using a flexible retrieval catheter under topical local anesthetic jelly. It takes only a few minutes.
Does the removal process hurt?
Patients generally report minimal discomfort akin to standard catheter removal. The local anesthetic jelly ensures smooth, comfortable retrieval.
Will I need a urinary catheter during the treatment?
In most clinical cases, no indwelling Foley catheter is required while the iTind is in place. You urinate naturally around the struts of the device.
How does it compare to UroLift® and Rezūm™?
Unlike UroLift®, iTind™ leaves no permanent implants behind in the prostate tissue. Unlike Rezūm™, it does not use thermal steam energy, avoiding post-procedure tissue sloughing and extended catheterization.
Can iTind™ affect sexual function or cause retrograde ejaculation?
Multi-center prospective clinical trials have documented virtually zero incidence of de novo erectile dysfunction or retrograde (dry) ejaculation, making it favored by sexually active men.
How soon is normal urinary flow restored?
Patients often notice an immediate improvement within days of device retrieval, with maximum sustained urinary flow rate (Qmax) stabilizing over 4 to 8 weeks.
Can iTind™ be repeated or followed by other surgeries in the future?
Yes. Because iTind™ leaves no permanent foreign body and doesn't cause scarring to surgical planes, all future medical or surgical prostate options remain completely open.
